What to Wear for Your Photoshoot: A Guide to Looking Good in Every Photo
People often ask me what to wear when booking a photo shoot. After all, you don't get your pictures taken every day, and you want to look your best, right? So, I figured it was time to write a post to answer some questions you might have for your special day.
Simplicity is key.
Your photo shoot should be all about you and your natural beauty, not your outfit, location, or anything else that might detract from your personality! With that said, here are a few things to keep in mind when selecting your wardrobe for your shoot.
Be yourself!
I love capturing people as they truly are in real life, without posing them for the camera. My goal is to show off the unique beauty in your personality, and that includes the clothes you wear to your session! Just be yourself, and wear what makes you happy and comfortable. Whether you prefer casual or formal wear, the most important thing is to feel confident and comfortable so I can capture your true essence!
Wear Earth tones
Hey there! My style of photography is natural light, outdoors. I absolutely adore shooting amidst beautiful natural scenery, bringing to life a dreamy and soft ambiance that makes you and your loved ones look stunning! To achieve this, I stick to earth tones that blend in perfectly with the surroundings, bringing you to the forefront of your portraits!
Avoid wearing distracting patterns
I absolutely adore plaid, stripes, and polka dots! However, for portraits, these patterns can be a bit distracting. But don't worry! I just want you to look like a superstar in every picture. So let's go for some solid, earth tone clothes - I promise it'll be worth it!
Wear clothes that fit!
Okay, it's natural to feel like we aren't looking our best and want to wear loose, baggy clothing to hide some extra pounds. But did you know that doing so can actually make us look like a shapeless blob? Don't worry though, I have some posing techniques that can make you look as slim as possible. For that, it's important to wear clothes that fit properly and show off your form.
Coordinating colors
I absolutely love photographing groups, no matter how big or small. Who says everyone has to match? We've all seen those big family portraits where everyone is wearing the same color...it ends up looking like a strange floating head collage! Instead, coordinating colors can look amazing. I suggest complementary earth tones that will work perfectly with the beautiful scenery we'll be capturing together! Keep in mind, this list is not everything, so if you have any questions at all feel free to comment below!
