i’m not saying you Can’t do it alone. you just shouldnt.

If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.

-African Proverb

Is it hard to say “yes” when people ask if you need a hand? Instead you take all the responsibilities on yourself. Before you know it it feels like your drowning in to-do lists that haven’t even been made because your too busy to think straight!

Take a deep breath….

You don’t have to do it all alone even though it seems easier at first. Going alone really is faster. You don’t have to worry about anyone else’s vision, schedule or lifestyle. When you first start you feel like you can manage it just fine. Things are getting done with little to no friction. Then things start to pick up and life gets in the way.

It’s in this moment that you come to a breaking point. Your friends and family notice too. You are snappy and overly cranky. They may not tell you but they feel the need to walk on eggshells around you.

This is not the life you wanted when you decided to sacrifice it all to start your business and I am here to help. I’m not going to say you can’t do it alone I’m just saying you shouldn’t do it alone…

It makes you feel ashamed and incompetent at the mere thought of reaching out for help because the reality is you can, do it alone, It is physically possible but that doesn’t mean you should!

Your physical and mental health is worth more than you putting it all on your shoulders. It’s simply not sustainable long term to work yourself into the dirt. One day you wont be able to pick yourself back up and there wont be anyone to help you either.

No business owner should feel this way and you shouldn’t either.

Three ways that I have found to effectively fight being a lone wolf are

Ask for Help

Don’t be afraid to speak up and let others know that you really can use their help. You will be surprised how many people around you buy into your vision and would love to help you achieve it! This does not mean that your incompetent but you humbly acknowledge your limitations.

Strategic Delegation

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. A strong entrepreneur will play to them. Set up your business so you can maximize your time focusing on tasks where you are most strong. Delegate those other tasks that bog you down and wear you out. Delegation is not enough. Strategically delegate so you optimize your teams strengths. It will give them motivated and passionate about your work and will keep you from being burnt out!

Find a Mentor

Find someone you trust to be vulnerable with about your business and personal life. Someone you know who has your best interests at heart. Having this sounding board will ground you. They will be there when things get tough if nothing else for emotional support. Everyone needs this type of relationship in their business!
