Let me introduce myself

Hey there!

Thanks for making it to the blog. My name is Jonathan Silva. This is where I share all my random thoughts about life, business and of course photography. It’s been awhile so I wanted to introduce myself and let you know a little about me and my business! 

It all started when my two boys were born and I wanted to capture all the milestones in their lives. My passion for photography has only grown since then. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I am a published commercial branding portrait photographer with 10+ years of experience. I am passionate about capturing your brand and curating your story in a way that compels your target audience! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I decided to start doing photography professionally in 2016 to capture the beauty in every person who steps in front of my camera.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My style is natural clean, bold pictures that aren’t heavily edited. This will ensure that your pictures will withstand the test of time and stay relevant for years to come.

I am 35 years old, married and the father of Two very active children. My wife Lacey and I have been married for 13 years. I consider myself a lifestyle/portrait photographer that specializes in commercial branding photography.

My first professional camera

I got started in highschool with a vintage Pentax 1970s camera that looks a lot like this. We had a darkroom and I learned to develop my own film negatives and manually expose the image on paper and light. It was an experience that I’ll never forget. Learning this way has made me respect the historical artform of my craft. Starting on black and white film has had a huge  influence on my creative style. 

As I graduated highschool and went to college photography pretty much fell by the wayside for me. When my wife Lacey and I were expecting our first child I got a cheap $200 DSLR kit and dove all in head first. I took all the online classes I could find and poured my life into photography for the next four years before starting my Photography business. 

Starting my business was never intentional. A lot of friends and family asked me to take portrait sessions for them. As the years went by I got better and better and finally people would not allow me to take pictures without payment so I decided to start my photography business and I’ve been on the ground running ever since. 

I used to take every opportunity that came my way for experience and to really see what I enjoyed shooting. As the years went on my passion for commercial photography just kept growing and growing. I have always loved retail and commercial environments. It’s funny but window shopping is my absolute favorite pass-time since I was a little boy. Logos, colors and the look of retail shops intrigue me. It’s my passion to use my God given talent to capture and curate a business brand in a way that truly is emotionally moving.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio I moved to New Orleans in 2007 to pursue a degree in Christian Ministry. After living in the New Orleans area for a decade I decided to move to my wife’s quaint and charming hometime of St. Francisville. I have fallen in love with Louisiana and it would be hard to live anywhere else after being embraced, supported and loved by such a great community!
